Celebrate the 2019 Salute Award Winners And 35 Years of Honoring Exceptional Women, Men and Organizations!
YWCA is proud to award three Meritorious Service Awards to the individual members of what is known as “the Alliance” at Salute’s 35th year anniversary on March 8, 2019.
Billings Clinic, RiverStone Health and St. Vincent Healthcare have been strategically working together for 25 years, creating and sustaining innovative programs that address complex community-wide health issues. Guided by the personal commitment of each organization’s leadership, the Alliance model best- practice approaches to public health and healthcare collaboration. The mission of the Alliance is to identify community health needs and to define and implement efficient and effective community solutions through collaborative and integrated actions. The three entities’ shared vision is, “Together we improve the health of our community, especially those who are underserved and most vulnerable, in ways that surpass our individual capacity.”
Congratulations to Claudia and John Decker of Briggs Distributing – 2019 Distinguished Service Award recipients. Highly visible on the front lines of the community through their volunteer service and support, they giving of their personal time as well as through financial generosity. From YWCA to the MSU-B Foundation Wine and Food Festival, the Rocky Mountain College Black Tie Blue Jeans Ball, local schools, and more—there are dozens of good causes to which they contribute through volunteer hours as well as financially. Many of these involvements span three decades.
Meet the recipients of this year’s Exemplary Philanthropy Award! Joel and Andrea Long have provided incredible support for victims of domestic violence and poverty in Montana and Wyoming. After years of backing YWCA’s Gateway Shelter for victims of domestic violence, they stepped in to assist YWCA in funding the Gateway Vista 24-unit affordable housing project that was completed in July of 2018. Thank you, Joel and Andrea!
Gateway Vista Grand Opening
YWCA Billings’ Capacity Campaign is a critical part of fulfilling our mission, vision and strategic plan. Your participation will make it possible for women and children to have a roof over their heads and have access to life-changing support though Gateway Shelter, Gateway Vista Affordable Apartments, and Transitional Programs. Your contributions will help meet the goal of raising $1 million over three years. To make a gift, call 252.6303 or donate online.
Gateway Vista residents are low-income and have very few personal items. Adopt-a-Home allows organizations and individuals to assist these families in a variety of ways at varying costs—by purchasing furniture and soft goods for entire apartments or specific rooms, providing gift cards, or paying rent and utilities while families get on their feet. A Target Registry has been set up for soft goods.
Go to target.com, click on “Registries & Lists” and search “YWCA Billings”. Volunteers are also needed to assist with move-in. We welcome your participation!
